Our beautiful park
History
Goddington Park was initially part of the Haddon Estate in the C16th when the manors of Chelsfield & Goddington were combined. In the late C19th the then major Hallet, rebuilt the mansion & developed the upper parkland. Some of the original parkland trees remain and the park is a site of importance for natural conservation. The Manor house and Lodge remain in private ownership but in recent years, the upper and lower parkland have been owned and managed by the London Borough of Bromley.
Facilities
Goddington Park is a wonderful wide open space with plenty of grass, sports pitches and two children's playgrounds. It has a wealth of sports facilities with the following sports all available for recreational use:
- Baseball court
- Kick about area
- Bowling green
- Football pitches
- Non turf cricket pitch
- Rugby pitches
- Tennis court
Goddington Park is also a popular spot for jogging and a parkrun takes place each Saturday, which is a free 5km run open to all age groups.
Goddington Park is legally protected by a Deed of Dedication signed with the landowner (Bromley Council). This means the land can never be sold off and will be retained as a public park for the benefit of local communities forever. The landowner has to go to Fields in Trust to make certain changes, although some changes do not require consent.
